Weekly Report

CESS Project Development

The v0.4.0_alpha version was released officially as the first version for internal testing, all functions ran expectedly, and the system started to release the blockchain rewards to miners. Development progress in the blockchain network, storage miners, scheduling nodes, and CESS Gateway.

1. CESS Blockchain:

Released the v0.4.4 version of the blockchain network (cess#v0.4.4):

  • Installed EVM.

  • Upgraded the file upload process, deleted the backup mechanism, realized the function of secondary file transfer, and improved the file download efficiency.

  • Added new test units, including Filebank, Filemap, Sminer, Segmentbook modules.

  • Upgraded the storage miners' storage pool structure and unified store miners' information logs.

  • Miners can submit proofs, and scheduling nodes can submit verification results in batches.

  • Upgraded the miner function: the prefilled meta data on-chain would be deleted after the miner exits.

2. Storage Miner:

Released the Storage Miner v0.4.3 (cess-bucket#v0.4.3).

  • Realized the function that storage users can directly download files from storage miner nodes

  • Upgraded file download–support RPC and HTTP for file download

  • Upgraded the data storage directory to the miner's signature account address

  • Optimized the storage miner code–delete the prefilled file record on-chain when the miner exits.

3. Consensus Scheduling Nodes:

Released consensusscheduling node v0.4.3.

  • Optimized the file reduplication design.

  • Updated public IP command

  • Added authentication through Polkadot accounts' public/private keys.

4. CESS Gateway:

Released CESS gateway v0.1.1 (cess-gateway#v0.1.1):

  • Upgraded the file upload code, i.e., upload file will return the new version of fileId.

  • Upgraded the code for file download – token judgment is no longer used when downloading files

  • Implemented support for downloading files using fileId

  • Upgraded the file inquiry code– file query returns the fileId list

Community Activities

The internal test of the CESS decentralized storage system based on the iterative version of the BSC testnet ran successfully.

Total reward: 3,000,000 CESS Tokens

Current participating nodes: 327

2. CESS successfully gave keynote talks in NYC, Hangzhou, and Buenos Aires on Polkadot Decoded 2022. The talks attracted the attention of many other Polkadot projects, VCs, media, and Web3 enthusiasts. CESS's official social media followers increased by nearly a thousand people.

  • Hangzhou: Andy Zou, Chinese Community Manager at CESS, gave a talk with the topic "A New Kind of Decentralized Storage Protocol to Realize the Polkadot's Web3.0 Vision." The talk focuses on CESS, a high-speed, secure, and scalable decentralized storage with smart contracts, and how it will become a critical component of the Web3 storage infrastructure. CESS's early participants and enthusiasts in China gathered in Decoded Hangzhou to share their knowledge and the project's development with developers and other CESS followers at the CESS booth.

  • New York City: Louis Albuerne, Director of Business Development at CESS, shared the same topic. Louis shared how industry pioneer CESS could accommodate the storage needs of all decentralized projects by leveraging its innovative technologies, helping build a prosperous Web3. CESS will be the first to provide data storage services to large-scale commercial businesses, leading to the third-generation blockchain storage track.

  • Buenos Aires: CESS's Marketing Manager John Humphreys-Ramos gave a talk with the topic "A Decentralized Storage Protocol for Large-Scale Commercialization" to share why CESS as a blockchain-based storage network can support large-scale commercial applications.

3. CESS announced the date of the testnet launch this week.
