Project Development Details:
V0.5.3 is the current testnet which consists of consensus and storage nodes. Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network and serve as the data scheduling station in the network. Storage nodes are responsible for providing verifiable storage space and act as the data storage pool in the network.
Consensus Miner [v0.5.3]
Fixed a bug that caused a transaction to fail due to too much storage proof challenge data that resulted in a long transaction time.
Fixed a bug that caused challenge generation to fail when the total number of filling data segments was 1.
Completed the coding of migration code related to online upgrades and implemented migration logic.
Fixed a bug where the scheduler occasionally failed to verify proof when accessing the new SGX storage proof library Kaleido.
Storage Miner [v0.5.3]
Fixed a bug that caused a transaction to fail due to the submitted proof exceeding the chain’s 1M size limit setting.
Fixed an index out of bounds bug when calculating proof for only a single file.
CESS’s mission is to provide Web3 with practical storage services. The CESS product ecosystem is becoming more robust and prosperous. Innovative applications such as decentralized object storage service (DeOSS), online file sharing tool (DeShare), and public chain snapshot storage service have been incubated. Users can experience these functions now.
Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS)
The introduction section of the product manual has been revised, and several system flowcharts have been redrawn for better clarity.
Public Chain Snapshot Storage Service (Link)
It allows users to store and access full block data snapshots for various networks in the Polkadot community.
It provides statistical display functions to help users analyze and understand the data.
CESS continues to contribute to the vitality and development of the Polkadot ecosystem and has joined programs such as the Substrate Builders Program (SBP) and W3F Grants.
SBP-Milestone 3
Completed the development and testing of all deliverables for milestone 3.
Updated the proposal of the deliverable documents, including background, motivation, definition of three types of roles, file download process flowchart, and detailed description of the file download process steps.
W3F-Milestone 3
Completed Docker testing for the block explorer framework and rebuilt the Docker version.
Experimented with instances and operation tutorials for running the blockchain explorer framework on the Moonbeam network.
Experimented with instances and operation tutorials for running the blockchain explorer framework on the Kusama network.
Reorganized the deployment document of the blockchain explorer framework and other processes such as custom chain.
Testnet
Overview:
12 consensus nodes and 3820 storage nodes registered with almost 67.99 tib effective storage space within 112 days after the v0.5.3 testnet was launched. More details on the blockchain explorer.
If you encounter any issues building a node, please seek assistance on CESS Discord.
Event:
The miner reward event for the CESS testnet continued as storage and consensus miners can earn points by participating. Points can be exchanged for CESS tokens when the mainnet launches. Latest miner reward list.
Community Activities
1. CESS initiated a community activity “Upload, Share and Win” on Feb 24–26, where users were invited to upload pictures and videos to cess.cloud/deshare and generate unique URLs to share on social media. The event aims to promote CESS’s decentralized cloud storage solutions and encourage users to experience its seamless sharing features. The top three entries receive a total of 150 USDT.
2. Jessie Dai, co-founder of CESS, hosted a Substrate Saturday event titled “How to Seize New Web3 Entrepreneurial Opportunities in 2023.” The event covered topics such as CESS’s success at the Polkadot hackathon and women’s Web3 entrepreneurial wisdom. Related tweet.
3. CESS participated in the Tencent Cloud Web3 Build Day event, where they announced their entry into Web3 and collaboration with partners to drive adoption. Related tweet.
4. John Humphreys, the community manager of CESS, hosted a special Discord event with Jeretucu from Phala Network for Spanish-speaking blockchain enthusiasts. The event covered CESS’s innovative decentralized cloud storage solutions and engaged in a discussion on the topic. Related tweet.
