CESS Project Development

Continued the development of the v0.4.0_alpha version (the first version for internal testing). The development team is testing and optimizing the current version, and is starting the iteration. Development progress in blockchain network, storage miners, and scheduling service.

1.CESS Blockchain:

In the process of developing CESS blockchain network v0.5.0.

  • Developed the interface declaration, file upload interface and file deletion interface inside the filebank module in the blockchain network, and the function of generating random files.

  • Optimized the segment-book pallet in the blockchain network, which means when the space expires, the function of deleting the corresponding file will delete the user's file to a size smaller than the purchased space after the space expires.

  • Added the mandatory registration function of the consensus algorithm. If the consensus node does not register within a given period,  the node will be punished.

  • Added the function of clearing miner idle files.

2. Scheduling Service

Tested the deployment scheduling service v0.5.0 version.

  • The proof-of-space function was normal during the test, code details

  • Upgraded the file upload process and RPC interface in the scheduling service.

  • Upgraded the interface and event definitions for the interaction between the scheduling service and the chain.

  • Upgraded the function code of the scheduling service about transmitting files to storage miners.

  • Upgraded the structure of the verification result reported by the scheduling service to a list, thereby reducing the number of transactions between scheduling and the chain.

  • Fixed the bug that an error was reported when decrypting files in the scheduling service.

3.Storage Miner:

  • Tested the deployment of the storage miner v0.5.0 version, the storage miner proof-of space-function ran normally, code details.

  • Fixed a bug that caused miners to be kicked out due to insufficient events when miners generate proofs, and setting the wait time based on the number of challenges generated.

  • Upgraded the structure of the proof submitted by storage miners to a list, thereby reducing the number of transactions on-chain and fixing the bug of duplicate file verification results on-chain.

  • Fixed the bug that the deposit was incorrectly calculated when miners registered.

  • Upgraded the storage miner's space management subtask function.

Internal Test:

The internal test of the CESS decentralized storage system based on the iterative version of the BSC testnet ran successfully.

Community Activities

1. CESS was one of the few teams voted to speak at the Polkdadot Decoded conference, with keynote presentations in three venues: New York City, Hangzhou, and Buenos Aires, from June 29 to 30th.

  • Hangzhou: Andy Zou, Chinese Community Manager at CESS, will be giving a talk with the topic "A New Kind of Decentralized Storage Protocol to Realize the Polkadot's Web3.0 Vision." The talk will focus on CESS, a high-speed, secure, and scalable decentralized storage with smart contracts, and how it will become a critical component of the Web3 storage infrastructure. CESS can form its own robust ecosystem and has substantial monetization opportunities.

  • New York City: Louis Albuerne, Director of Business Development at CESS, will share the same topic, "A New Kind of Decentralized Storage Protocol to Realize the Polkadot's Web3.0 Vision." Louis will share how industry pioneer CESS can accommodate the storage needs of all decentralized projects by leveraging its innovative technologies, helping build a prosperous Web3. CESS will be the first to provide data storage services to large-scale commercial businesses, leading to the third-generation blockchain storage track.

  • Buenos Aires: CESS's Marketing Manager John Humphreys-Ramos will give a talk with the topic "A Decentralized Storage Protocol for Large-Scale Commercialization" to share why CESS as a blockchain-based storage network can support large-scale commercial applications.

2. Jessie Dai, the co-founder of CESS, was invited to attend the online event "How Projects in Polkadot Ecosystem Sustain Momentum In a Web3 Bear Market?" hosted by OneBlock on June 26th. Jessie Dai shared CESS development plan in the current market environment.

3. Andy Zou, CESS Chinese Community Manager, was invited to attend the Gear Workshop held on June 27 at Dingchuangcaifu Center. The theme of the event is "CESS - How to Build and Support Web3.0' as a Decentralized Cloud Storage Network".

4. CESS, ChainInside, and Web3 Analytics coordinated the "Metaverse Fantasy Castle Day" seminar and an evening event on June 27. Louis Albuerne, the head of Business Development at CESS, attended and shared the project and its recent progress.

5. From June 13 to the end of the month, the CESS community has launched the "Come join CESS Discord as Contributors" event, inviting community enthusiasts to join CESS Discord and participate with NFT and USDT incentives. Link

6. The CESS team organized and revised the Wiki.

7. The CESS team conducted an internal test, preparing for the CESS testnet launch.
